Called "ClickAirport BIRDS," the system records details of sightings within airspace area using a pocket PDA computer that graphically captures the full airport layout. All information is uploaded to a master database automatically. The information held within the database provides a series of management reports via a Web browser connected to the airport intranet. Graphs and images can be produced to provide analytical reports and text reports that provide a series of auditable data logs, and a detailed animated map that enables users to view hot spots around the airport.
Airport managers can use the data to analyze various time periods-weeks, months, years-to determine where potential problems may be and act accordingly. The company estimates that bird/wildlife strikes caused in excess of .25 billion in damage to aircraft worldwide last year.
