Birds Watch Out

UK AVIATION SOFTWARE DEVELOPER, ClickAirport has launched an innovative bird/wildlife safety control program for airports worldwide. 'ClickAirport BIRDS' has been developed exclusively for airport authorities/operations as a management safety tool for the ever increasing wildlife numbers in and around airspace, and is being trialled at Edinburgh Airport.

The system enables an airport authority to record details of sightings within its airspace, using a pocket PDA computer that graphically captures the full airport layout. All information is uploaded onto a master database and is used to provide a series of management reports via a web browser connected to the airport's intranet. Graphs and images provide analytical reports, and text reports will provide a series of auditable data logs and a detailed animated map that enables one to view 'hot spots' around the airport, allowing operators to analyse problems and act accordingly.
