THE ROLE OF INFORMATION IN FOD CONTROL
In May 2005, ClickAirport will present how they have been helping civilianand military aerodromes with their Foreign Object Debris control programmes. From assessing and investigating Foreign Object Damage to best practice Airfield Management, ClickAirport will explain how information pervades the investigation process and is the essence of decision making in Airfield Operations. The 2nd International FODConference in Blackpool, UK was supported by NAFPI (National Aerospace FOD Prevention Initiative, Inc) and will bring together the latest concepts and case studies from around the world.
The conference will highlight the difficulty of civilian airports investing in FOD prevention measures without the visibility of the damage problem from the airlines perspective. Alex Orosz will show how United Airlines’ research had uncovered a huge FOD problem AND how they successfully reduced it based on analytical methods and measurement techniques.
The Royal Air Force will take the opportunity to present the timetable of a major FOD policy initiative across the MoD that sees responsibility being brought into the remit of the Defence Aviation Safety Centre and investment in a series of measures and techniques trialled at RAF Leuchars.
