ClickAirport are delighted to announce that they are now members of the Wireless Airport Association. An association that is dedicated to provide innovative wireless solutions to the airport industry.
The American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), Air Transport Association (ATA) and the Airports Council International - North America (ACI-NA) have joined to form the Wireless Airport Association (WAA) -- a new association dedicated to the expansion of state-of-the-art wireless services at airports. The goal of the association is to provide recommendations, models and best practices for the provision of wireless services at airports in a manner that will best meet the needs of passengers, employees and airport tenants.
Wireless services at airports are going through an explosive growth period with enormous potential for improving the travel experience for passengers and the work experience for employees at airports, said Charles Barclay, President of AAAE. But conflicts between wireless devices and technologies, or incompatible technologies from one airport to another, could negate much of the value for our airport system in these advances. Our interest is in seeing the airport and airline communities work together to help coordinate efforts and provide useful best practice models, so that the aviation system can achieve maximum benefit from the exciting new wireless services being developed. ATA President Carol Hallett agreed with Barclay. Aviation has always been at the forefront of technological innovation. Through the Wireless Airport Association, we will enhance that role by revolutionizing the use of wireless communications at airports for our customers. She added that, coordinating our efforts will ensure that these exciting new technologies are available to air travelers while simultaneously protecting the integrity of other safety-of-life aviation navigation and communications equipment at our airports.
The use of wireless devices at airports is rapidly becoming an essential customer service for both airports and airlines, stated David Plavin, ACI-NAs President. Im very pleased that our three associations, whose members serve over 99% of the flying public, will work together on the implementation of new technologies to facilitate compatible wireless integration at the nations airports.
