Belfast City goes ClickAirport for Wildlife Control

Fri 22/09/2006

The airport is using the Wildlife Control application to manage the bird population on the airfield - always a challenge for any airfield close to water.

ClickAirport's Wildlife Control allows airport safety teams to perform allocated tasks using structured activity lists. They use PDA's to record their observations & actions, & automatically upload data to the system's central database, using cradles.

Team leaders use any web access point to evaluate data, identify short-term issues & longer term trends. This is critical, as water birds are frequently large, & bird strikes are a potential hazard. Trend identification allows staff to recognise seasonal abnormalities, & to plan resources to protect airfield safety.

Says Barry Strain, Airside Standards Manager, "We introduced ClickAirport in July, & are seeing significant benefit. We envisage extending this system into other operational areas such as aircraft turnrounds, to enhance our ability provide all airport users, passengers & staff with a safe & reliable service"

ClickAirport systems are used to improve operational team effectiveness at civil & military airfields across the UK.
